What is the Start-Up Trade Name Period?
The Start-Up Trade Name Period allows companies to request
their trade names and commonly known names in the .jobs Top
Level Domain (TLD) before the first come, first served registrations.
The Start-Up Trade Name Period begins on June 19, 2005 and
runs through August 19, 2005. Names will be awarded after the
Start-Up Trade Name Period closes. Barring any disputes, the
awarded names will resolve on August 31, 2005.
Who can register a .jobs domain during the Start-Up
Trade Name Period?
In order to request a .jobs domain name during this period,
the company must have been in existence prior to January 1,
2005. The company must also be a recruitment entity that can
verify, with written proof, that it employs people. Also, a
qualified applicant must abide by the SHRM
Code of Professional Ethics. The company name MUST be listed
as the registrant (owner) of a requested .jobs domain name.
What are the naming conventions for .jobs Start-Up
Trade Name Period?
The specific guidelines include:
- The company name or commonly known name must be in the
.jobs domain name. For example, sallysflowershop.jobs or
sallysflowers.jobs are acceptable .jobs domain names for
a company called Sally?s Flower Shop.
- A product name may be used, but only in conjunction with
the company name or commonly known name. From the company
example above, sallysflowerroses.jobs is an acceptable .jobs
domain name.
- The .jobs domain name may not have the words ?job? or ?jobs?
in the domain name. For example, sallysflowershopjobs.jobs
is NOT valid.
- Generic terms are reserved. For example, flowers.jobs is
reserved.
- Proof of your company name is required in the form of your
company?s URL. Other documents may be required on a case-by-case
basis. If your company does not yet have a URL, please contact
us for assistance.
- The domain name must be at least 3 characters long. The
only valid characters include: the English alphabet, numbers
and a hyphen (-).
Please note: Failure to observe the guidelines above will result
in an invalid registration. The $50 processing fee per requested
.jobs domain name is non-refundable.
First come, first served registrations are expected to start at
noon on August 19, 2005.
